Copilot for Obsidian V4
Copilot V4 starts with Agent Chat, where opencode, Claude Code, or Codex can read your vault, use tools, and complete multi-step work with your approval. Quick Ask, Copilot Commands, and Quick Chat remain available for smaller jobs and mobile use.
Start here
- Install Copilot from Obsidian’s Community Plugins.
- Open Settings → Copilot → Basic → Agents. Follow Getting Started with Copilot V4 to download managed opencode, auto-detect Claude Code, or connect Codex through
codex-acp. - Run Open Copilot Agent Chat Window. A ready default agent opens automatically; if Select your agent appears, choose an Installed agent and select Start chat.
For most people, opencode is the best starting point because Copilot can install and manage it for you. Claude Code and Codex use their existing command-line accounts. Windows users can also follow Windows setup for Agent Chat.
